On Monday Indian Railways launched a revamped IRCTC website to book seats that can even predict the probability of getting confirmed tickets. The website that became operational at 12 midnight, is passenger-friendly and clutter-free.
The tatkal booking facility is allowed in all classes except for AC First class. Tatkal charges per passenger in addition to normal ticket fare(applicable both in peak and lean periods ), according to IRCTC. The tatkal charges would be 10 %of the basic fare for second class and 30% of the basic fare for all other classes.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) offers train tickets for free via State Bank of India (SBI) card. IRCTC on its website, irctc.co.in declared: "Here's announcing the arrival of exclusivity. Presenting the IRCTC SBI Platinum Card.
The agents,however, are giving sleepless nights to IRCTC as they use illegal software to book tickets. “Keeping track of illegitimate software is difficult. It is possible that over 1,000 tickets get booked in a second across the country,” a senior rail official told DNA. The agents reportedly take a commission of Rs 500 or more for each booking.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a good four months away but the rush is already making itself felt. Online ticket bookings for trains to the Konkan region have gone through the roof. Over the past one week, the Konkan Railway has been overbooked with wait lists touching 1,000 in select trains.

Trains for Bharat Darshan were launched to facilitate tourists to visit religious and historical places in the country at affordable price. In the beginning, these trains were termed as "Village on Wheels". The first Village on Wheels train started operating on November 29, 2004 from Patna after it was announced in the Rail Budget Speech. IRCTC has been running several Bharat Darshan trains since then on pan India basis at a price Rs 900/- plus taxes per passenger per day.
