Xiaomi 12S series set to launch with Leica cameras on July 4: Check key details here

The global technology brand Xiaomi has officially confirmed that it will be launching three new flagship phones -- the Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, and 12S Ultra on July 4. Xiaomi’s new 12S series has been co-developed by the German camera company, Leica. This is the first time Xiaomi has co-developed phones with a camera company. 

Lei Jun, Found and CEO of Xiaomi, took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote: "After so much hard work, we can finally share our latest innovation, Xiaomi smartphones co-engineered with Leica, ushering in a new era in imagery technology. Looking forward to sharing more at the #Xiaomi12SSeriesLaunch on July 4, 19:00 GMT+8!."

Xiaomi is releasing teasers of the Xiaomi 12S smartphone with a big camera lens, which is most likely to be part of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra smartphone. The brand recently confirmed its partnership with Leica for its smartphone cameras. This Xiaomi device will be the successor to last year’s Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra in the market. Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12S Ultra are likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. 

According to leaked reports, Xiaomi 12S Ultra might come with QHD+ AMOLED display that supports 120Hz refresh rate and features an LTPO panel. It is expected to use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen+ 1 chipset which is likely to come paired with 12GB RAM and offer 512GB storage. 

Xiaomi focuses on creating the ultimate user experience and has always hoped to explore the capabilities of smartphone photography to the extreme. Xiaomi and Leica agree with each other's pursuits and ideas and appreciate each other's advantages and industry. This cooperation will provide a strong boost to Xiaomi's imaging strategy. During the cooperation, from optical design to tuning aesthetic orientations, the innovative technologies, product philosophies and imaging preferences of both parties have experienced unprecedented in-depth collision and fusion." Lei Jun, founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group, had said in a statement.
