Nagaland's Neiphiu Rio and Meghalaya's Conrad Sangma to take oath today; PM Modi to attend
Earlier on Monday, pro-tem speaker Timothy D Shira administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly elected MLAs, bringing them into the legislature.
Neiphiu Rio and Conrad Sangma will be sworn in as Chief Ministers of Nagaland and Meghalaya, respectively, today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending all oath taking ceremonies of the new government in the both Northeast states.
Conrad Sangma of National People's Party (NPP) will take oath at 11 AM in Shillong in the presence of PM Modi and other party bigwigs.
"All preparations are on for the Prime Minister's visit. He will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the chief minister and his cabinet members at the Raj Bhavan," a senior Meghalaya government official said on Monday. Security has been beefed up in Shillong ahead of the PM's visit.

PM Modi will then proceed to Kohima to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Neiphiu Rio as the Chief Minister at 1:45 PM.
Rio will be leading an all-party government with no opposition in his state even as the central government continues talks with former rebels of the NSCN (IM) to finalise a long-awaited peace accord in the border state.
The NDPP-BJP coalition, in the recently concluded Nagaland polls, won 37 seats in the 60-member Assembly.
The BJP is a member of the ruling coalition in both the states.
BJP's Manik Saha will take oath as the Chief Minister of Tripura on Thursday at 11 AM.
The BJP along with alliance partners retained power in all the three states in the just concluded Assembly elections.
