PIB fact-check: PIB rejects Youtube video claiming govt will give Rs 1.80 lakh to parents of every girl child
The Youtube video broadcast through the Government Gyan channel says the central government will provide Rs 1,80,000 to the parents of every girl child under the Pradhan Mantri Kanya Aashirvad Yojna
When a state or the central government launches a scheme, it takes the route of newspapers, news channels, or digital media to publicise it.
The publicity through these modes gives the news authenticity and reaches the largest population possible.
But a lot of times, social media channels broadcast news about government schemes that appear to be true, but it is impossible to gauge their authenticity.
Their news turn out to be fake after going through a proper verification mechanism.
The latest in this series is a Youtube video broadcast by the Government Gyan channel, which claims that the central government will provide Rs 180,000 to the parents of every girl child under the Pradhan Mantri Kanya Aashirvad Yojna.
The video further claims that this amount will be deposited into the account of the girl child's parents.
Given India's large population of girls, this scheme should have been of extremely large proportion, and the government should have publicised it on a mass scale. But that wasn't the case at all.
Once the video became popular, the government quickly turned on its heels and took cognizance.
PIB fact-check probe brought out the truth
Press Information Bureau's fact-checking team saw the video to know the reality.
The PIB team informed that the video is fake and the claims made in it have no authenticity.
The PIB team also said that the government is not running any scheme called Pradhan Mantri Kanya Aashirvad Yojna, and hence there is no question of providing any support to girls through this scheme.
