Under the UDAN programme, the government has collected a levy of Rs 214 crore from scheduled airline operators to fund the scheme and has disbursed Rs 60 crore as viability gap funding to the airline operators till May 2018 to operate in tier II and tier III airports. The UDAN was launched with much fanfare by the government in June 2016 with a cap on fares.

Odisha government today decided to start the first regional air connectivity operation between Jharsuguda and Bhubaneswar from June 14 under the Centre's UDAN scheme, official sources said. The decision in this regard was taken at the State Level Monitoring Committee on RCS-UDAN held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary AP Padhi.

Nand Gopal Gupta, the Uttar Pradesh Civil Aviation Minister, said that after being developed, Allahabad Airport will be connected with 13 other cities of the countries, like Hyderabad, Nagpur, Mumbai, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Dehradun, Indore, Kolkata, Raipur, Pune and Patna in next 15 months. In addition, 11 major cities of the state, like Kushinagar, Agra, Jewar, Gorakhpur, Kanpur and Allahabad among others will be connected through the airstrip.

The flight from Delhi to Pathankot will operate thrice, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, in a week, departing from Delhi at 0955 Hrs and arriving at Pathankot at 1130 Hrs. While returning from Pathankot, the flight will depart at 1150 Hrs to reach Delhi at 1335 Hrs. The introduction of this flight will reduce the travel time between the two cities significantly.
