Freedom to fly! Flight services from Hisar to Chandigarh, Delhi to start from Independence day

Adding yet another regional connectivity service under UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik), Pinnacle Airlines would render flight service from Hisar to Chandigarh and Delhi from Independence Day, August 15. In a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary D S Dhesi in Chandigarh today, he was informed that the airliner is going to commence its services under the regional connectivity scheme, which aims to take flying to the masses and enhance flight services to smaller cities.
 
In the meeting it was informed that security, fire and ambulances services would be provided to the Chandigarh by the Police Department, Urban Local Bodies Department and Health Department respectively, an official release said, adding that works on renovation of runway and widening of taxiway have been completed, while the work on extension of airport apron was underway.
 
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) would reportedly carry out the communication, navigation and monitoring work besides imparting training to firemen and 51 security personnel in July.  
 
Earlier on Thursday, airline major Jet Airways commenced its operations from Allahabad. The Jet service will be operated from Allahabad to Lucknow, Patna, Nagpur and Indore. The starting fares for the flights are Rs 967 for Allahabad to Lucknow, Rs 757 from Lucknow to Allahabad, while fares for Allahabad to Patna start from Rs 1,216.
 
Air Odisha also launched a flight to Jagdalpur from Visakhapatnam through Raipur, commencing its services to Chhattisgarh from Andhra Pradesh yesterday. Jagdalpur would now be connected by air from Raipur, and the travel distance between the two cities has been reduced to a merely 40 minutes.

For the Air Odisha flight, the airfare for a single-way journey has been kept at Rs 1,670, which is in line with the Rs 2,500 ticket price fixed for a one-hour journey under the Udan scheme.
