Sensex climbs 901 points to close at 80,378; Nifty up 271 points, settles at 24,484
Key Nifty and Sensex gainers included HCL Tech, TCS, and Infosys, while Titan, IndusInd Bank, and HDFC Life were among the laggards.
GIFT Nifty futures, an early indicator of the 50-share index, were down 84.45 points or 0.35 per cent at 24,211.

Sector-wise, Nifty Metals, Private Banks, Auto, and Realty led the gains, while FMCG and Media sectors continued to lag.
FMCG and telecom sectors continued to face selling pressure amid weak investor sentiment.
In early trading, the Sensex dipped by 250 points, standing at 78,550 in the pre-open session. Nifty followed suit, losing 79 points and staying below the 24,000 mark, currently at 23,900.
