The latest development in the formation of the 8th Pay Commission is a letter written by the Indian Railways Technical Supervisors’ Association (IRTSA) to the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The letter has requested the ministry to form the 8th Pay Commission.

According to the Gratuity Payment Act 1972, any company, factory, or institution, where 10 or more employees have worked on any one day in the last 12 months comes under the Gratuity Payment Act. The DA is calculated as a percentage of an employee's basic salary. Depending on inflation, it is adjusted twice a year. It is calculated on the consumer price index (CPI) and industrial average. When we calculate DA on the basis of CPI, we first determine CPI. The CPI is published by the Labour Ministry of the central government.
