Xiaomi ties up with Reliance Jio to offer Redmi 5A for Rs 4,000
Making the ‘affordable smartphone’ a little cheaper, Xiaomi has tied up with Jio to offer the phone in a bundled handset scheme.

Chinese smartphone company on Thursday unveiled the Redmi 5A which was promoted as ‘desh ka smartphone’ and ‘the smartphone for everyone.’
Telecom operator Reliance Jio has partnered with Xiaomi to 'effectively' offer the phone at Rs 3,999 which was priced at Rs 4,999.
“With a reduced entry barrier, customers can now enjoy a smartphone at only Rs 3,999 with all unlimited services at Rs 199 monthly,” the company said.
The effective price of the phone comes with a bundled handset scheme of a new ‘all unlimited’ monthly plan by Jio.
Interested subscribers will have to pay Rs 199 for free voice calling and 1GB data per day. Jio is also offering unlimited SMS and Jio apps for a period of 28 days.
First sale on the smartphone will be held on December 7 from 12 noon onwards. Redmi 5A is a Flipkart exclusive and along with being available on mi.com will also be available on the e-commerce website as well.
Jio has also begun taking orders for its own 4G VoLTE enabled feature phone, the JioPhone. The effective price of the phone is zero however customers will have to a total of Rs 6,000 inclusive of monthly recharges and interest-free refundable deposits.
