Xiaomi may launch Redmi Y2 as the Redmi S2 India Variant; Know price, specs and features

Next week will be exciting for Indian consumers, as the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi may launch new variant in this market. Xiaomi’s Redmi smartphones are most loved in India due to it’s low budget, good camera and storage features. Shopping a Xiaomi phone is like having everything all-in-one phone. In a latest news, it is being expected that on June 07, Xiaomi may launch Redmi Y2 as the Redmi S2 India variant at an event held on June 07. At teaser has been launched by e-commerce giant Amazon with an option of ‘Notify Me’ for latest launch of Xiaomi phones. However, Amazon has not mentioned which phone will be presented at this event, but even Xiaomi has notified about new launch on this day, and guessing by the teaser one can expect the Redmi Y2 to enter Indian market.
According to NDTV Gadget 360 report, the Amazon page does not reveal which Xiaomi smartphone is going to launch, but the teasers published alongside match the launch invite and once again emphasise the 'Y' - pointing to the India variant of the Redmi S2.

Therefore, instead of bringing new model, Xiaomi is seen to introduce the Redmi S2 to Indian market in the form of Redmi Y2. The S2 was the first smartphone in Redmi S series which was launched in China last month.
As per the Gadget’s report, the Redmi S2 with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage is priced in China at CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 10,600), while its 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,299 (around Rs. 13,700). The price tag for the Redmi Y2 in India is not yet official.
It can be expected that Redmi Y2 will have similar features like Redmi S2. This means it can be powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC having a 5.99-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) display with a 70.8 percent NTSC colour gamut.
The phone is expected to run on Android-based MIUI 9 along with 3080mAh battery. It will have two storage options namely 32GB and 64GB which can be expandable up to 256GB via microSD. Powered with 4GB RAM, the phone will have 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. As for front camera, the phone will be packed with 16-megapixel sensor supporting features like AI Portrait Mode, AI Smart Beauty, Front HDR, and Face Unlock.
Other services like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB port will be available on this phone.
