Xiaomi unveils Redmi 12C: First impression, price and other details

Redmi 12C price in India: Xiaomi today announced the launch of its latest offering - Redmi 12C. The budget smartphone comes with MediaTek Helio G85 chipset and the company claims that it is one of the fastest smartphones in the entry-level segment. The smartphone is available in two storage variants - 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. They are priced at Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999.
As part of the introductory offer, ICICI Bank card holders can avail of a discount of Rs 500 - bringing the effective pricing to Rs 8,499 and Rs 10,499 respectively. The Redmi 12C will be available across Amazon.in, Mi.com, Mi Studio, Mi Home and authorized retail partners starting 6th April, at noon.
Redmi 12C first impression: Design
Redmi 12C has a striped design at the back. It not only looks good but also elevates its overall aesthetics. The smartphone is available in four different colour variants - Lavender Purple, Mint Green, Royal Blue, and Matte Black. Here we have the Mint Green colour with us. The smartphone has a good hand-feel and the striped design on the back gives it an anti-slip texture. The material used in Redmi 12C is plastic. Also, it has a double-camera setup with a 50-megapixel AI sensor. It also has a fingerprint sensor. On the right side of the device are the power button and volume rocker. While there's a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, the microphone, micro USB charging slot and speaker grille are on the bottom.

Keeping in mind the demand for a big screen, the Redmi 12C has been launched with a 6.71-inch HD+ display. The water drop display has a 5MP camera for selfies. It has thick bezels, especially at the bottom. To enhance the experience, it features a 120Hz touch sampling rate and a max refresh rate of 60Hz. The device has a peak brightness of 500nits. The Redmi 12C comes with a 5000mAh battery and comes with a 10W charger in the box.

The Redmi 12 C comes with a MediaTek Helio G85 processor. The company claims that with an octa-core processor, capable of clocking up to 2GHz and 12nm architecture, the Redmi 12C is the fastest smartphone in the sub-10K segment.
It comes with up to 11GM RAM, including a 5GB virtual RAM extension. There is a dedicated micros SD card slot which can help extend the storage up to 1TB.
The Redmi 12C has an IP52 rating and the oleophobic coating keeps the display smudge-free.
