Tech giant Google launched its new line up of Pixel smartphones during an event in the United States on Tuesday evening. However, what comes as a shock for smartphone lovers in India, the company is not bringing Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL to the country. The same was confirmed by Google in a statement released on the same day. Even though Google did not specify the exact reason for not introducing the phones in India, it mentioned that the availability is based on a variety of factors, including local trends, and product features.
This suggests that the issue could have been around Google's new feature - Soli Radar. To use this feature, the smartphones need to run chip that operates on the 60GHz frequency. Unfortunately, this is not allowed in India at the moment and you need to take permission from the government for the same. There is a chance that Google might have failed to get the permission as well.
Also, the new smartphones do not have any other biometric authentication or security feature. Apart from this, you only have a pin/pattern based unlock method which is considered dated by many. So, if the company had decided to bring the Pixel line up to India without Soli radar, it might have not worked! There had been rumours leading up to the event that the Soli Radar would not work in all regions.

The statement released by Google added that India remains to be a key market for the company and it will continue to bring smartphones in the future.
"Google has a wide range of products that we make available in different regions around the world. We determine availability based on a variety of factors, including local trends, and product features. We decided not to make Pixel 4 available in India. We remain committed to our current Pixel phones and look forward to bringing future Pixel devices to India," Google's statement read.
The company had launched the Pixel 3a smartphone in India earlier this year, hitting a lower price point than the Pixel 3.
