WhatsApp trick: You can check someone's WhatsApp status without letting them know; here’s how

WhatsApp constantly keeps adding new features to the platform, to make it more attractive for its users. One such feature arrived about two years ago when the instant messaging platform introduced 'Status' to the platform. In a blog post back then, Jan Koum had said he and Brian Acton always talked about improving and evolving this original "text only" status feature of the app.

The feature was later reinvented, allowing WhatsApp users to share phoṭos and videos with their friends and contacts on WhatsApp in an easy and secure way. "This new and improved status feature will let you keep your friends who use WhatsApp easily updated in a fun and simple way," the post read. 

The feature has become highly popular and is being used by several WhatsApp users now. However, whenever you check someone's 'Status', the user gets to know about it. This can often lead to awkward moments. However, there is a WhatsApp trick that can save you from a lot of embarrassment.

This trick can be used through 'Read receipt' feature of the messenger. These receipts are the tick marks that appear next to each message sent by you. If the 'Read receipt' feature is disabled, you will only see a double tick next to the message which means your message was sent but not read. A single tick means that the message was not delivered.

Now, if you want to check someone's WhatsApp Status without letting them know, you need to do it after disabling the 'Read receipt' feature. Once the Read receipts are turned off, your friend won't find out that you have seen his or her status. 

However, this also means that you won't be able to see the names of people who have viewed your 'Status'.
