Google is making automatic backups available for free: Here is how it will benefit users

Google is set to make your life a lot more comfortable. The internet giant is making automatic backups available for free to Android users, whether or not they have Google One membership. This would mean that all your data including contacts, photos, and media messages will be automatically backed up and could be restored, in case some information is deleted. 

The feature will be accessible wherever Google One is an option.  Not just this, the feature will also be available for Apple users. An upcoming iOS app will let you store media, contacts, and calendars with Google, including through the free 15GB of storage. 

This is ultimately consolidating features available through separate apps like Google Photos, but helpful if you want additional protection beyond what Apple’s iCloud offers.

The updates will also help users save time while managing available backup space. The tech giant plans to add a new storage manager in its app and website that will both illustrate how you’re using space and give you ways to make room by deleting large files, spam emails and other items that you don’t need. 

The Android features will reach Google Play in the “coming days,” while the iOS app will be ready “soon.” The addition on Android, will help Google counter iCloud. It will provide Android users wider access to automated, centralized backups and an iCloud-like reassurance. At the same time, there’s little doubt that this helps Google sell One. It is likely to lead to a greater need of storage because of which users might end up purchasing it. 

The users must know that these features will only be available for normal users and won’t make it to G Suite’s business users.
