Xiaomi 12 series, Watch S1 launch today: Check expected specs, features and more

Xiaomi 12 series launch: The global smartphone brand Xiaomi will launch its flagship smartphone Xiaomi 12 series -- Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and 12 Pro -- globally on December 28. The company has already revealed that the flagship device will have the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 premium SoC. The brand will also introduce a smartwatch - Xiaomi Watch S1 -- at the launch event.

The Xiaomi 12 series is set to launch today at 7:30 PM in China (5:30 IST). As the event is completely virtual, interested viewers can watch the livestream on Xiaomi’s China website and on Weibo. Earlier, Zhiyuan Zang, Deputy GM of Xiaomi Marketing, took to micro-blogging platform Twitter and shared the image of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 series and wrote "Two Flagships".

According to a report from BGR India, the vanilla model, Xiaomi 12 is tipped to feature a 6.2-inch curved display with a center punch-hole to accommodate the front camera. Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are said to get AMOLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The base model could pack a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging support, and include wireless charging as well.  As for the Xiaomi 12X, it is expected to have a compact design and equip the Snapdragon 800 series platform- Snapdragon 870 SoC. It may feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

According to the news agency IANS, the upcoming smartwatch will have a circular design and the body seems to be made out of metal. It will also have two physical buttons on one side similar to the Xiaomi Mi Watch Revolve Active.

This will be the natural successor to Xiaomi Watch, which was launched in China in 2019 with MIUI for Watch, NFC, eSIM, and the Snapdragon 3100 processor. Xiaomi's China page has shared a teaser poster of the upcoming smartwatch and apart from its launch date, it also showcased the smartwatch's design, the report said.
