Google search trends August 2020: These were the 10 most searched COVID-19 related questions in India

Cricket is back and so are the fans. This clearly reflects in the Google search trends for August 2020. The top trending search in India during August was “Pakistan vs England”, spiking over +5,000%, followed by “Pranab Mukherjee”, which spiked +4,000%. The Pakistani cricket team was among the top trending topics over the month, spiking +3,400% and ranking second to Indian Independence Day which was the highest spiking topic overall (+3,750%). 

As expected, people continued to search COVID-19 related questions even in August. Here were the 10 most searched questions on Google –

Apart from this, there was also curiosity around the availability of coronavirus vaccine. This came after Russia made the much awaited announcement. These were the ten most vaccine-related questions:

Search interest for Independence Day peaks annually in August, but this year it soared to a new record high. The previous record peak was August 2018. Search interest for “Lebanon” also spiked +2,100% over the month while “COVID-19 prevention” surged by +1,600%.
