7th Pay Commission: Extension for Autonomous Bodies
7th Pay Commission: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has approved the long pending demand of extension of benefits of 7th CPC to the pensioners and family pensioners of commodity boards like Tea Board, Coffee Board, Rubber Board and Spices Board w.e.f 1.1.2016. This means the employees and pensioners will be getting 36-month arrears as well. (Agencies)
7th Pay Commission: Residency period for promotion in Railways
7th Pay Commission: Keeping in view fact that younger and better qualified and talented employees are now available in Level -1 of all the railway departments, it has been decided that the residency period for promotion from Level-I to Level-2 in all departments may be reduced from the existing 3 years wherever prescribed to 2 years. This means an eligible employee who is getting Grade Pay Rs1800 (LeveI-1) can be now promoted to Grade Pay Rs 1900 (Level-2), after two years of service. (IANS)

7th Pay Commission: In yet another move that will benefit thousands of employees, the Centre has subsumed the different categories of Cash Handling allowances and Treasury allowances into one category - Cash Handling and Treasury Allowance. It has also increased the allowances to Rs 700 for cash up to Rs 5 lakh and Rs 1,000 for cash over Rs 5 lakh. (Reuters)

7th Pay Commission: In another pay linked move, albeit one with negative connotations, the government has decided to discontinue OTA for all categories other than Operational Staff and industrial employees. The Operational Staff and industrial employees have been defined as "All non-ministerial and non-gazetted Central Government servants directly involved in smooth operation of the office including those tasked with the operation of some electrical or mechanical equipment". Lakhs of government employees in Uttar Pradesh have started a Jail Bharo movement demanding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme.
