Aadhaar-PAN link Deadline 2023: What happens if you fail to link them before March 31?

Aadhaar Pan Link Last Date: The deadline to link permanent account numbers (PAN) with Aadhaar is around the corner - March 31. If you still haven't linked your PAN card with your Aadhaar card, you should do it on priority as the Income Tax department has made it mandatory for every citizen of the country to link your PAN with the Aadhaar card.

In case one fails to link PAN with an Aadhaar card by March 31, then his/her 10-digit unique alphanumeric PAN number will become inoperative from 1 April 2023.

Aadhaar-PAN link exemption

Notably, a few individuals are exempt from linking their PAN with their Aadhaar. These include:

- Individuals aged 80 years or above

- Non-residents of India (NRI) as defined by the Income-tax Act

-Residing in the States of Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, and Meghalaya;

Aadhaar-PAN Link Online: How to Link Aadhar with PAN Card Online?

Here is your step-by-step guide to link your PAN-Aadhaar online

Step 1: Visit the official Income Tax e-filing website - https://www.incometax.gov.in/

Step 2: On the left side of the homepage page, find the option of 'Quick Links'

Step 3: Click on the 'Link Aadhaar' option.

Step 4: Enter the details required - PAN card number, Aadhar number and name.

Step 5: An OTP will be sent to you, enter the OTP

Step 6: Your Aadhaar and PAN will be linked.
