7th Pay Commission latest news today: Teachers, Academic employees in Madhya Pradesh raise 7th CPC benefits demand

7th Pay Commission latest news today: Teachers and other academic employees of Madhya Pradesh state government in Indore have gone on agitation demanding the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission report recommendation for them. In fact, they have got the support of the Junior Doctors' Association (JDA) of Indore in this regard too. In its letter addressed to the Commission of Indore Division, the JDA claimed that the required measures haven't been taken, which reflects that the government is not keen to resolve the issue. Both teachers and JDA wants the implementation of time-bound promotions ordered passed as recommended by the 7th pay commission report.

The Junior Doctors Association of Indore have written to the Commission of Indore Division that despite the state government being informed about the issue and the mass Casual Leave about 1 month ago, but instead of initiating talks to resolve the issue, it is trying to impose ESMA to suppress a democratic protest in which no emergency medical services were hampered by the MPTA. Both teachers and the junior doctors are firm on getting their demands for implementation of 7th pay commission and related promotions cleared by the government. The JDA in its letter has requested the government to take necessary action and resolve the matter as soon as possible. However, in case the government fails to take proper action as they wish, they have threatened to withdraw OPD and other services 'in case of any untoward action against the protesting teachers.'

When teachers had received some good news from Centre

Union HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar while addressing a press conference in New Delhi on January 2019 had informed that in a landmark decision, the Central Government had approved proposal to extend the 7th pay commission benefits to the teachers and other academic staff of the state government or government-aided degree level technical institutions in the country, which will have additional Central Government  liability of Rs 1241.78 crore.  

He had then said that the Central Government will reimburse 50 per cent of the total additional expenditure (from 1st January 2016 to 31st March 2019) to be incurred by these institutes for payment of arrears on account of 7th CPC implementation. This had directly benefited a total of 29,264 teachers and other academic staff of State Government funded institutes. Besides, about 3.5 lakh teachers and other academic staff of private colleges/ institutions within the purview of AICTE also benefited from the approval given, he had added.

The Minister said that the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendation in State Government Aided/funded AICTE approved technical institutes will help them in attracting and retaining the faculty of high academic standards.

It remains to be seen, which stance the Madhya Pradesh government takes on implementing 7th Pay Commission report in this case.
