7th Pay Commission Latest News Today - 7th CPC: It is the festive season and every government employee is looking at the government for his or her Diwali bonus to spread the cheer in their family. In these coronavirus hit times, money has been a problem. Employees have seen their expenditure rise as things get costlier and more and more bills need to be paid, and salaries are not rising at all. Price rise is a big problem and any help from any side is welcome. It is this reason why this Diwali bonus cleared by the government is so welcome.
It has been revealed that the government in the state of Tamil Nadu has declared a Diwali bonus for as many as 291,000 government employees. The announcement was made that a bonus of Rs 210.48 crore has been set aside for employees of public sector undertakings in TN. The government said that this is being done despite the finances of these corporates suffering due to stoppage of services caused by the corona pandemic. The revenues simply plunged as public transport and factories were affected by COVID-19 lockdown.
How many employees will benefit?
The government's move will bring cheer to over 2.91 lakh employees. And who are they? It includes Group 'C' and 'D' category workers and employees. In fact, it was revealed that all profit or loss-making PSUs will be given Diwali bonus of 8.33 per cent. To this will be added 1.67 per cent which will be in the form of ex-gratia.
How much money?
Employees concerned will receive a bonus and ex- gratia payment of Rs 8,400 for Diwali. Indeed, this will allow employees to celebrate this special festival with gand usto without having to think about cutting down too much on expenses.
In a thoughtfull gesture, the Tamil Nadu official notification says, "Employees' toil plays an important role in accelerating the countrys economic growth. It is through their hard work that the country is achieving excellent economic growth."
Needless to say, whether it is employees or the governments themselves, finances of all concerned have been hit very hard by the corona pandemic and the lockdown itself. It has also affected the functioning of all business entities, including state PSUs and statutory boards.
Specifically, it has affected the functioning of Tamil Nadu Electricity Generating and Distribution Corporation, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation, Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Corporation, plus many others.
However, despite this negative impact, the government has sought to ensure the impact is as soft as possible by providing salaries and this bonus. The statement said, "Despite this, all workers were paid full monthly wages in the interest of their families."
The functioning of the companies has been affected for a prolonged period of as high as 6 months.
