The Ministry of Finance made the announcement in this regard after the circulation of rumours that there can be 20 per cent salary cut for the central government employees and pensioners, which got further boost when the parliamentarians announced to contribute their one month salary to the PM CARES Fund. The announcement has come as a big relief to the central government employees and the pensioners as they will be getting 7th Pay Commission payment as recommended by the 7th CPC and accepted by the central government.

The Ministry of Finance categorically said that the news-break on the social media platforms that there can be 20 per cent cut in central government pensioners and employees is absolutely fake as the Government has no such intention. The ministry statement made it clear that there will be no laxity in payment of monthly 7th CPC pension and 7th pay commission salary of the central government employees. The statement said that the government has issued cash management instruction but it won't affect the monthly salary and pension of the central government employees.

The Government has announced lockdown in India on 25th March 2020 and it was extended till 3rd May 2020. So, in this period, the Government of India requires huge fund to fight against Coronavirus. So, the rumours started to proliferate that to meet its monetary requirements in fight against Coronavirus, the Center may think of cutting monthly salary of its pensioners and employees. But, the GoI responded on time and dubbed all such social media scoop as rumours only.
