Banks to remain shut today for Independence Day; here's the full list of upcoming holidays
Independence Day bank holiday: Branches of all commercial banks — public as well as private — will remain shut on Tuesday, August 15 on the occasion of the country's 77th Independence Day. Besides, banks are scheduled to remain closed for a total of 14 days, including Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays, in August.

Types of bank holidays The RBI classifies bank holidays into three categories: Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

One has to note that these holidays will not be uniformly applied across the country, and will vary from region to region.
