Petrol and diesel prices have been released by the Oil Marketing Companies for Friday, June 2. The fuel rates were hiked after a two-day pause. With this new revision in petrol and diesel prices for June 2, Chennai has become the new state to join the likes of states that are selling petrol at RS 100 and above. It has also become the second metro city to join the Rs 100 club as far as petrol cost is concerned. The OMCs revise the Fuel rates daily and new prices are effected at 6 am.

As Chennai crossed the Rs 100 mark on Friday, petrol is also about to touch Rs 100-mark in other two metro cities—Delhi and Kolkata. Mumbai had already been selling petrol above Rs 100 for the past two weeks now. As on Friday, petrol got costlier by 35 paise in the national capital, while the government OMCs decided to keep the diesel price unchanged, showed the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) portal.

DELHI – Petrol: Rs 99.16 | Diesel: Rs 89.18.
MUMBAI - Petrol: Rs 105.24 | Diesel: Rs 96.72 .
KOLKATA - Petrol: Rs 99.04 and Diesel: Rs 92.03.
CHENNAI – Petrol: Rs 100.13, while Diesel Price: Rs 93.72.
Last fuel rates were revised on June 29, petrol and diesel were hiked by around 35 paise and 28 paise respectively across four metro cities, as per Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) portal. Meanwhile in the gloabl market, oil prices rose roughly 2% on Thursday on indications that OPEC+ producers could increase output more slowly than expected in coming months, while rising global fuel demand causes supply to tighten, said Reuters. Brent crude settled at $75.84 a barrel, up $1.22, or 1.6%. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude settled at $75.23 a barrel, gaining $1.76, or 2.4%. During the session, both benchmarks climbed by more than $2 a barrel, reaching their highest since October 2018.
