Current Crude Oil Prices in the Futures Market

On Friday, crude oil prices fell by 0.17 per cent to Rs 7,012 per barrel in futures trading, as traders reduced their positions due to weak spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, the crude oil contract for July delivery decreased by Rs 12, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 7,012 per barrel, with a trading volume of 6,895 lots. Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil increased by 0.02 per cent to $83.90 per barrel, while Brent crude declined by 0.08 per cent to $87.36 per barrel.

The government made a significant price cut on March 15, reducing petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 per liter. This reduction was implemented with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in mind. Now that the elections are over, it will be interesting to see how long these lower prices will remain.

India’s oil marketing companies, such as Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Indian Oil Corporation, release petrol and diesel prices. These prices are available on the companies' websites, allowing consumers to check rates from home.
