Stock market holiday 2022: Equity, forex and bullion markets will remain closed on Wednesday on account of Republic Day on Wednesday, January 26.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE will remain closed for total 13 days in 2022.
In January, markets will remain closed on one occasion, which is the 73rd Republic Day of India. In March and April, there will be 2 trading holidays each month, while in May the markets (NSE, BSE) will remain close on one occasion. The markets will remain closed in August and October for maximum 3 days each. Muhurat Trading shall be held on October 24,2022 (Diwali – Laxmi Pujan). In November, there will be one trading holiday.

Earlier, snapping the 5-day losing streak, the Indian markets ended in the green as the benchmarks Nifty50 and the S&P BSE Sensex staged a bounce back in the late afternoon trade on Tuesday. The recovery was led by auto and banking stocks.
Broader markets indices Nifty Mid and Small Cap outperformed the benchmarks at the Tuesday’s closing as the indices registered growth by 1 per cent. The 12-share index Nifty Bank grew over 2 per cent, aiding the strength in Nifty50.
''After a week-long consolidation, domestic indices took a breather supported by low-level buying. Western markets also supported staging recovery following correction in oil markets, and as uncertainties over Fed policy and geopolitical tensions eased. However, volatility is expected to linger as investors await the Fed’s final policy statement, providing clarity on the timeline of rate hikes. If the statement is hawkish as anticipated, we cannot ignore a bounce in the market, 'Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services, had said in the post market commentary.
