Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi speaks about key details about the IPO and explains what retail investors and policyholders should do post IPO allotment date.
Anil Singhvi added that since the issue size of LIC IPO is huge, investors are more likely to be allotted the IPO shares.
Anil Singhvi reiterated and said that it is highly likely that investors would be able to make money in both the short-term and long-term. However, the market guru had recommended investors to subscribe the IPO with a long-term perspective.
At the upper end of the price band, LIC policyholders received a generous discount of Rs 60 per share, which made it the most sought-after issue.
On the last day, 2.95 times were subscribed to the LIC IPO, which remained open from May 4 to 9. As opposed to the 16,20,78,067 shares offered, 47,83,67,010 shares were bid for by the state insurer. Bidding for the portion reserved for policyholders was six times higher than the bidding for the employee quota, which was four times higher. In terms of Retail Individual Investors (RIIs), Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs) and Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs), the bids subscription figure was 1,99 times, 2,91 times and 2,83 times, respectively.
