It's a massive achievement and world record for Aarogya Setu, the government's mobile app developed for tracking coronavirus patients! Aarogya Setu has become the world's fastest app to reach 5 crore downloads in just 13 days. The proud development has been confirmed by Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on April 14 appealed to people to download the app.
"Telephone took 75 years to reach 50 million users, radio 38 yrs, television 13 yrs, Internet 4 yrs, Facebook 19 months, Pokemon Go 19 days. AarogyaSetu, India's app to fight COVID-19 has reached 50 mn users in just 13 days-fastest ever globally for an App," Kant said in his tweet.

What does Aarogya Setu app do?
- Aarogya Setu app alerts people if any person in vicinity has tested positive.
- District administration has been asking all educational institutions, departments etc to push downloading of the app.
- The app was developed under a committee set up by the Prime Minister's Office with active involvement of Niti Aayog and Ministry of Electronics and IT.
Coronavirus latest update
The death toll due to coronavirus rose to 377 while the number of cases in the country climbed to 11,439 on Wednesday, according to the Union Health Ministry. While the number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 9,756, as many as 1305 people have been cured and discharged, and one had migrated, it said. The total number of cases include 76 foreign nationals.
Of the total 377 deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 178 deaths, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 50, Delhi at 30, Gujarat at 28 and Telangana at 17. Punjab and Tamil Nadu have reported 12 deaths each. Karnataka has reported 10 fatalities while Andhra Pradesh reported nine deaths.

As many as 24 deaths have been reported since Tuesday evening, of which 18 were reported from Maharashtra, two each from Delhi and Gujarat, one each from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
