Group D Exam Date 2018: Computer-based test tomorrow: What to expect in the RRB exam, check key details

RRB Group D Level Exam 2018: Indian Railways' exam for largest recruitment drive will kick off tomorrow. As many as 1.9 crore candidates are expected to take part in the exams starting September 17 to fill 60,000 posts. "Railway Recruitment Boards are carrying out the world’s largest exam for recruitment of various posts in Level-1 of 7th CPC against CEN02/2018.  Total 1.9 crores candidates have applied for the above examination for Indian Railways," the public transporter had said.

Almost all the RRB Group D exams will be held in three shifts on the given dates. The shift timings are 9 AM, 12.30 PM and 4 PM. The reporting time for 9 AM shift is 7:15 am while that of for 12.30 shift is 10:45 am and for 4 PM shift is 2.15 pm.

The Railways is yet to announce next dates for 2018 exam openly. However, candidates can check their exam, city, shift, admit card (e-call letter) and other details by visiting the respective RRB website. The railways had said that admit cards for each exam will be made available four days prior to the exam. Hence, candidates are advised to keep a check on the RRB sites.

As per some reports, the railways has also released admit card for September 19 exam.

The railways will be conducting a 90-minute computer-based test consisting of 100 questions. These will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and will carry a negative marking of 1/3rd number for each wrong answer.

Out of the 100 questions, 25 will be of mathematics, 30 will be of General Intelligence and Reasoning, 25 will be of General Science and 20 of General Awareness and Current Affairs.

What to expect in the exam? Below is the syllabus details:

Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

General Intelligence and reasoning: Analogies,  Alphabetical and Number  Series,  Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decisionmaking, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

General Science: The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10 standard level.

General Awareness on current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance. Most probably, the current affairs part will consist of events of the last two years.

Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories: UR-40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST-30%. These percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PWD candidates in case of shortage of PWD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

Based on the merit of the candidates in the CBT, candidates shall be called for PET Two times the community wise total vacancy of the Posts notified against RRBs.
