Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend an event in New Delhi on Tuesday that will mark the culmination of the Amrit Kalash journey as part of the government’s 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' campaign, which aims to pay tribute to the soldiers who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The Amrit Kalash Yatra is an activity that involves the collection and transfer of soil and rice samples from the length and breadth of the country to the national capital. The event comes on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, observed as National Unity Day across the country.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to reach Kartavya Path in New Delhi at 5 pm. Home Minister Amit Shah, I&B Minister Anurag Thakur, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, and Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi will also be in attendance at the event.
PM Modi will lead a ceremony to pay respects to Amrit Kalash at the programme, which will also mark the closing ceremony of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a 75-week-long grand celebration to mark 75 years of India’s Independence.
The Prime Minister will launch a platform, called ‘Mera Yuva Bharat' or MY Bharat, for the youth. He will address thousands of “Amrit Kalash Yatris” joining the programme from across the country, according to an official statement.
The PM will also “inaugurate Amrit Vatika and Amrit Mahotsav Memorial developed from soil collected from every part of the country”, the culture ministry said.
On the eve of National Unity Day, soils from various parts of the country were combined into one amid a display of the country's culture and unity in diversity on Kartavya Path, which wore a festive look as people from different states and Union Territories came wearing traditional attire while state-wise cultural performances added to the milieu.
The Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign has been envisaged as a culminating event of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which began on March 12, 2021, to celebrate the 75 years of the country’s Independence. It has since witnessed more than two lakh programmes organised throughout the country with enthusiastic public participation.
What is the MY Bharat platform?
The Mera Yuva Bharat platform is being set up as an autonomous body to serve as a one stop whole-of-government platform for youth of the country. In line with the PM’s vision to provide equitable opportunities to every youth of the country, the platform will leverage technology to provide an enabling mechanism across the entire spectrum of the government so that they can realise their aspirations and contribute in building a developed nation.
The platform is aimed at inspiring the youth to become community change agents and nation builders.
