This time, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has got 240 seats, while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has got 292 seats. On the other hand, India Alliance has won 234 seats. The BJP is far from the majority number of 272 on its own, but the NDA has crossed the majority mark. At present, the NDA seems to be in a prime position to form the government.
But the INDIA alliance can't be ruled out from making the government, so it is also putting in all its efforts.

Amid such suspense, both the NDA and INDIA Alliances are holding their respective meting this evening, in which brainstorming will be done on forming the new government.
INDIA alliance meeting at Kharge's residence
According to the information, the meeting of India alliance is scheduled at 6 pm today at the house of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
Senior leaders of all the INDIA alliance constituent parties will attend this meeting.
It will be decided in the meeting whether the alliance will sit in opposition or will try to form a government.
It will also be decided in the meeting who will contact which party for support.
Discussion on taking support from TDP-JDU is also possible in the meeting.
Also, a decision can be taken on who will be the PM.
At the same time, an offer of Deputy Prime Minister or an important role in the cabinet to some politicians is also possible.
NDA parties also meeting today
The BJP announced on Tuesday that Narendra Modi will be the PM for the third time.
The NDA has called a meeting of alliance partners today to form the government.
TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and JDU chief Nitish Kumar have also been asked to attend this meeting.
Chandrababu's TDP has become the second-largest party in NDA with 15 seats, while Nitish's JDU has become the third-largest party in NDA with 12 seats.
To form the government, the BJP will have to take both the parties along. In such a situation, today's meeting is being considered very important.
Decision on dissolving Lok Sabha in cabinet meeting today
The NDA can stake claim to form the government today.
But before that, there will be an alliance meeting.
All the constituent parties like JDU, LJP, TDP, JDS and Shiv Sena are expected to attend the NDA meeting.
This meeting will be held at 4 pm.
According to the information, a decision on dissolving the Lok Sabha can also be taken in the cabinet meeting today.
In the evening, President Draupadi Murmu will host a farewell dinner for the current cabinet.
