Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: The Centre-ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 240 Lok Sabha seats in the 2024 general elections, while the Indian National Congress (INC) bagged 99, the Samajwadi Party 37, the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) 29, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party 22, and the Telugu Desam party (TDP) 16 seats. In Uttar Pradesh - the state having the largest representation in the lower house of Parliament, for instance, the Samajwadi Party won 37 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party secured 33 seats, and the Indian National Congress bagged six seats while the remaining four seats went to other parties. But how did the major parties fare in smaller states and Union territories? Nineteen out of the total 343 seats in the lower house of Parliament come from states and UTs having a representation of up to two seats each. The number of seats allocated to each state and Union territory in the Lok Sabha is determined primarily by their population.
