Karnataka Lockdown Latest News Update Today: The second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in the country has affected millions of people across the country. When the pandemic broke out last year, a total country-wide lockdown was imposed. The lockdown was lifted in a phased manner and situation was gradually normalizing. However, the sudden surge in the number of coronavirus cases all over the country has thrown the state governments into disarray. The respective state authorities are imposing stringent measures to curb the spread of the disease.

On Monday, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa announced a two-week lockdown in the state from today, April 27, 2021, due to the massive rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state as per ANI. Yediyurappa said, "A COVID-19 curfew will be implemented in the state for the next 14 days. Essential services will be allowed between 6 to 10 AM. After 10 AM, shops will close." The Karnataka Chief Minister further added that only construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors will be allowed during this period of curfew and public transport will remain shut. The lockdown will be effective in Karnataka from 9 PM today.
As per a report by dnaindia.com, here is a list of the things allowed and not allowed during the lockdown in the state of Karnataka:
People must note that the home delivery of liquor or food parcels will be allowed to minimize movement of individuals outside their homes. The liquor shops or outlets will remain open from 6 AM to 10 AM.
During the span of the two-week lockdown, the schools and colleges will remain closed.
The cinema halls, theatres, malls, gyms, hotels, restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs and other non-essential shops will remain closed during the time of the curfew.
The students appearing for scheduled exams can travel in their own or private vehicles with their hall ticket as a pass.
People compelled to travel for emergency or health reasons or in out of the station travel by train or plane can hire a cab or auto to commute to the railway station or airport with the ticket as pass.
The banks, ATMs, insurance offices, e-commerce firms, facilities in supply chain of essential goods, cold storage and warehousing are allowed to operate.
The hotels, restaurants and other eateries have been permitted to operate only kitchens for take-away or home delivery of food items.
Amidst this gloomy situation, the only news of hope is about free vaccination of the citizens in the state of Karnataka. Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Monday took to twitter to make the announcement on free vaccines. He tweeted, "Covid19 vaccine will be provided free of cost to citizens between 18-44 years of age at all govt vaccination centers across Karnataka. Union Govt vaccination drive for citizens above 45 years of age will continue." He has also urged all eligible citizens to register themselves from April 28.
