GST Bill: What Sachin Tendulkar, Anand Mahindra, others said on Twitter
The Government of India is likely to pass the much-talked about Goods and Services Tax Bill (GST) in Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Indian Parliament) on Wednesday and we managed to get hold of reactions of people from various professions right from cricket, business, writing to politics.
The GST Bill was introduced into the Lok Sabha (Lower House of Indian Parliament) by the Congress political party in December 2014 and was passed in the Lower House in May 2015.
The GST Bill was stuck in the Rajya Sabha for long time due to opposition from the Congress party on additional 1% cap on manufacturing sector.
Since last few weeks, the ruling BJP government had a discussion with Congress party on GST and both parties have come to the consensus to pass the bill.
GST Bill once implemented will create one single tax into the country and will replace all state-level indirect tax levies such as excise tax, value added tax (VAT), octroi, service tax, etc.,
If all goes well, the country is likely to see passage of landmark GST Bill which will bring single tax into the nation.
Here are reactions of some renowned people who posted their views on GST Bill on Twitter:
Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has said, "One nation one tax, making #GST a reality is just a matter of time! Look forward to #GST delivering the benefits."
