Every year, a large number of revelers gather at the capital's center point - Connaught Place - on New Year’s Eve and this has in the past led to overcrowding and chaos at the nearest Rajiv Chowk metro station.
Even on other days, Rajiv Chowk is one of the busiest metro stations in Delhi as it is a transfer station between the Blue Line on the upper level, and the Yellow Line on the lowest underground level. Blue Line is considered as the busiest metro line in Delhi as it is the main metro corridor for this vast urban area and anyone who needs to go to Delhi or Gurugram has to travel via Botanical Garden, either continuing on the Blue Line, towards Mandi House, Rajiv Chowk, Karol Bagh and Dwarka.
Alongside, with the growing concern of Covid once again, DMRC has also encouraged passengers to follow Covid protocols during travel. Though no COVID-19 control-related instructions have been in place in Delhi at present, government authorities have advised people to take all precautions, like wearing a mask in crowded locations and public places, amid a surge in Coronavirus cases reported in many countries.
