Counter ticket cancellation: On IRCTC website, here is how you can get ticket cancelled and refund too

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a government of India Enterprise, which handles the online ticketing, catering, tourism aspects of Indian Railways, allows users to cancel their ticket through its website. You can cancel your Counter Ticket online and get refund too.

To cancel your Counter ticket online, passengers need to visit irctc.co.in and enter the PNR number and Train number available on the top. An OTP will be generated on the verified phone number, which will allow passengers to cancel their Counter tickets online. For the confirmation, the passenger will receive a message (OTP) including the PNR number and amount of refund money.

The online cancellation of Counter tickets will be applicable only for the valid mobile number which has been given at the time of booking. Online cancellation shall be permitted only upto four hours before the scheduled departure of the train if ticket is fully confirmed while it will be permitted only upto 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train if ticket is RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) or Wait list.

The cancellation of tickets and refund of fare may be permitted for Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter tickets in normal circumstances only. It will not be applicable in the case of late running of trains or cancellation of train etc.

To acquire the refund, passengers need to submit original PRS Counter ticket to any PRS counter of Indian Railways and collect the amount of refund.
