7th pay commission: Now these government employees have gone on a strike

7th pay commission: The demand for application of the new salary scheme has got more government employees worked up now. The demands have been simmering for long but have now boiled over. These staffers are from Rajasthan and they have gone on a strike now. Rajasthan transport authority staff has boycotted its duties for yet another day causing inconvenience to tens of thousands of commuters.

The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) employees have struck work as part of their protest demanding 7th pay commission salary benefits. The numbers involved are massive. There exists as many as 52 depots and 4,780 buses under the RSRTC. It was reported that there was a meeting held by the chairman and managing director of the corporation with the protesters, but it was not at all positive, auguring more problems.

Among the most important demands are the implementation of the 7th pay commission salary and other benefits, release of 3 Dearness Allowances that are pending and more. 

The monetary loss to Rajasthan government is nearly Rs 10 crore in 2 days.

On its part, the Rajasthan government has asked the government employees to call off their protest. It was revealed that the government may look at their demands seriously. 

In fact, a minister was quoted as saying that the government is positive about the demands.

Meanwhile, central government employees too are demanding that their 7th pay commission based salaries be hiked by a fitment factor in excess of the current fitment factor of 2.57 times. They want the hike to be by 3.68 times and for the minimum salaries to rise to Rs 26,000. Reason behind the demand is that inflation is eating into their salaries.
