Central government employees have decided to go on strike from July 11 in a last effort to get a better pay hike from the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission.
M Krishnan, Secretary General of the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers issued a notice to the employees who are member and affiliated organisations regarding the pursuance of an indefinite strike from July 11.
The union has been demanding a minimum salary hike of Rs 26,000 against Rs 18,000 recommended by the 7th Pay Commission, according to a Zee News report.
The Empowered Committee of Secretaries, who will be reviewing the recommendations of the report, are expected to propose a minimum salary hike of between Rs 21,000 to Rs 24,000 per month, the report said.
The National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery, Staff-side has been seeking negotiated settlement with the government on the demands raised by the union.
Krishnan had earlier said that if the government adopts delayed tactics or issue unilateral orders rejecting our demands, then confrontation shall become inevitable.
The Secretary had earlier informed the Staff-Side that they had planned to go on strike from April 11, but had deferred it to July 11 due to assembly elections in five states.
