7th Pay Commission: A meeting between Indian Railways personnel and ministry officials is believed to have taken place and it ended on quite a positive note.
7th Pay Commission: Ever since the time 7th Pay Commission recommendations have been approved, it has stolen the limelight as far as central government employees, their state counterparts as well as other related institutions like the Indian Railways and teaching staff are concerned. And why not? After all, it is a big upgrade in salaries and lifestyles of various government employees. The good news that is now being buzzed and is for Railways employees. A meeting between Indian Railways personnel and ministry officials is believed to have taken place and it ended on quite a positive note. If all goes according to plan, then there is a big gift for Railways employees coming soon and that is, their salaries will go up by nearly Rs 10,000.
What has happened is that, a meeting was held between Railways employees' organizations and the Railway Ministry, where it was assured that the employees would soon start receiving allowance under 7th pay commission. Things have progressed to such a level that a file on this matter has been sent to the Railway Minister himself.
The good news is that, once the wages will start coming in under the 7th pay commission system, the Railways employees salary will go higher by quite a few thousands of rupees. Further, it has been revealed that the employees have been assured that the running allowance will be given soon too. Therefore, if Running
Allowance is hiked, then the salaries of Railways employees will increase by up to Rs 10,000.
For instance, let's suppose a Railways guard travels 100 kilometers in current time, which results in running allowance of Rs 235 at the moment. But under 7th pay commission, this allowance is proposed to be hiked to Rs 525 - which is nearly double of the existing one. However, when this running allowance proposal is approved will be keenly watched.
On the other hand, there is a bad news for armed forces personnel including Junior Commissioned Officers of the Army as the government has rejected their long-standing demand for Military Service Pay (MSP) hike.
As per the reports, some 1.12 lakh military personnel including 87,646 JCOs and 25,434 personnel of equivalent rank from the Navy and the Indian Air Force are seen to be impacted by this decision of government. These army officers had demanded a monthly MSP hike from Rs 5,500 to Rs 10,000.
Apart from this, as many as 50 lakh central government employees have been waiting for some good news on their demands for a hike in their minimum pay scale and fitment factor. These employees are demanding a fitment factor of 3.68 times with minimum pay scale of Rs 26,000. This is after the Union Cabinet revised their minimum pay to Rs 18,000 from previous Rs 7,000 per month, along with fitment factor of 2.57 times in June 2016 leading to a major hike in all central government employees salaries.
