After a lot of anticipation, the Maharashtra government has decided to call of the Maharashtra Class 12 HSC Board Exam 2021. This decision from the Maharashtra government comes two days after the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 was announced.

Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced the cancellation of the Maharashtra HSC Class 12 Board Exam 2021 from her official Twitter handle on Thursday.

In fact, when the high-level government meeting was conducted on May 23, 2021, to discuss about the Class 12 Board Exams 2021, Gaikwad proposed for a 'non-exam route' for evaluating the Class 12 Board Exam 2021 students. Following the decision of the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021, Gaikwad tweeted from her official Twitter handle, "The decision regarding state board's Std. XII exams will also soon be taken keeping the student's health and safety in mind."
She also highlighted the fact that amidst this current situation, the mental health of the students must be prioritised. She tweeted, "There is no doubt that Std. XIIth exams are an important milestone in a student's life but given the current circumstances the health and mental well-being of our children should be prioritised."
The state government decided to cancel the SSC Class 10 Board Exam 2021 due to the COVID-19 situation in the state on April 20, 2021. At that time, Gaikwad has stated that the decision on the Maharashtra Class 12 HSC Board Exam 2021 would be taken soon keeping the safety of the students in mind. Recently, Gaikwad also informed about the evaluation policy for the SSC Class 10 Board Exam 2021 students to news agency ANI. She informed, "Board exam results for Class 10th will be based on exams conducted in Class 9th & 10th (internal marks). We will try to declare the results by the end of June. Those who aren't satisfied with their results can write CET exams later."
The Maharashtra HSC exams for class 12 board exam candidates were scheduled to begin from April 23, 2021, and end on May 21, 2021. On the other hand, the SSC board theory exams for class 10 were scheduled to take place from April 29, 2021, to May 20, 2021. The exams were supposed to take place in the offline mode.
