Gujarat Schools and Colleges Closed News: The recent spike in the number of COVID-19 cases all over the country has thrown respective state governments to take stringent action. The state governments are imposing stricter restrictions. Several state governments have closed down the schools and other educational institutions in the state to ensure the safety of the students as well as to contain the spread of the pandemic.

On Sunday, April 11, the colleges in Gujarat were ordered to be shut till April 30, 2021 amidst the sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the state as per a report by PTI.

When the coronavirus pandemic first struck in the country year ago, all the schools and educational institutions all over the country were shut down. They students had to shift to the digital platform for online classes. Now, again with the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases, the educational institutions are being shut down and the students once again have to rely on the online classes for their learning. In Gujarat also, as per the officials, all the government and private colleges have been told to impart education through online mode instead of calling students to the campus.

After the lockdown was imposed in the month of March last year, the schools in Gujarat were shut down. As the number of cases started to decrease, the schools in the state were reopened in a phased manner from the month of January and February. However, the recent spike in the number of cases in the country as well as the state has forced the authorities to close down the schools and educational institutions once again. Earlier this month, the schools for classes 1 to 9 were also ordered to be closed.

In fact, several other states have also issued similar directives to the schools and educational institutions. The Uttar Pradesh government has also ordered to close all the schools and other educational institutions till April 30, 2021.

Gujarat reported 5400 COVID-19 cases and 54 deaths on Sunday, April 11, 2021.
