April-May has been the exam session in the country, the state board exams as well as the CBSE, CISCE board exams take place during the time. However, the recent surge in the number of coronavirus cases all over the country has thrown the authorities into disarray on conducting the board exams.

As per a report by The Times of India, on Tuesday, the members of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board met to discuss the possibility of postponing the class 10 class 12 board exams in the state because of the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state.
Some other states have already announced the postponement of the class 10 class 12 board exams. Recently, the Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced the postponement of the HSC and SSC exams in the state. Also, the date sheets for the Madhya Pradesh Board Exam (MBPE) for class 10 class 12 candidates have been extended. The MBPE board exams for class 10 class 12 candidates were scheduled to take place from April 30, 2021. Now, they will be conducted after May 30, 2021.
Coming back to Gujarat, there has been no conclusive decision among the board members regarding the board exams but they are expected to meet soon again to review the matter. While speaking to The Times of India, sources in the education board informed, "The government may consider delaying the exams by 2-3 weeks but a final decision on it will only be announced later."
There has been a lot of hue and cry among the CBSE class 10 class 12 board exam candidates and their guardians. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has urged the centre to cancel the CBSE board exams in this adverse situation in the national capital. While addressing a press conference, Kejriwal stated, "Six lakh children in Delhi are going to write CBSE exams. Nearly one lakh teachers will be a part of it. These can become major hotspots leading to the large-scale spreading of Corona. Children's lives and health is very important to us. I request Centre to cancel CBSE exams." As an alternative, he suggested that online mode of examination or internal assessment can be used to promote the students.
The Gujarat class 10 class 12 board exams are slated to be held from May 10 to May 25.
