In a bid to inspect and replace the faulty speedometer assembly and owner's manual in Zeta and Alpha variants of Ciaz diesel cars, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is organising a 'Service campaign'. India's auto major is avoiding to call it a recall as the issue does not pose any grave dangers to car owners.
According to Maruti's notice to customers, as many as 800 vehicles of the Ciaz Diesel-- only Zeta and Alpha variants--manufactured between August 1, 2018, and August 21, 2018, will be covered under this service campaign.
Notably, the auto companies launch such campaigns around the world to rectify faults which might cause inconvenience to customer.
According to reports, Maruti had contacted car owners regarding this campaign from October 29 onwards for inspection and replacement of the part free of cost. The auto firm has also created a separate page on its website where the customers of Ciaz were required to fill in the chassis number MA3 followed by 14-digit alpha-numeric number on the screen.
The chassis number is embossed on the vehicle ID plate and is also stated in the vehicle invoice/registration documents.
The 2018 version of mid-sized sedan Ciaz was launched in August this year with price starting at Rs 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom). With the new generation smart hybrid technology, the new Ciaz model comes with a 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine flaunting a Lithium-ion battery for 13% more power and 6% more torque.
