Maruti Suzuki Ertiga spied on Indian roads in new avatar; car to go through massive transformation?
The latest images showing camouflaged body reportedly gave the look of the car’s interior. Although the new variant is similar to the recently unveiled Ertiga abroad, there are a few differences like Indian version would have climate control for the higher trims, besides having push button start along with keyless go.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which was spied on Indian roads, is likely to come in a new avatar. The second-gen Ertiga MPV, which was showcased in Indonesia in month of April this year, is still in final stages of testing, said an Autocar report, citing fresh set of spied images of the new model. The latest images showing camouflaged body reportedly gave the look of the car’s interior. Although the new variant is similar to the recently unveiled Ertiga abroad, there are a few differences like Indian version would have climate control for the higher trims, besides having push button start along with keyless go.
Further, the new Ertiga will also be offered with an automatic gearbox, gear lever, similar to the outgoing Ertiga automatic. This detail is reportedly very crucial as the new car will use Suzuki’s latest 102hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine in place of the old model’s 92hp, 1.4-litre unit.
Besides getting fresh cosmetic and feature upgrades, the new model will also get a new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options, said another report by Carwale, which also spied the new model undergoing test. It said that the new Ertiga will be powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol engine, generating around 101bhp of power, to replace the existing 1.4-litre engine that generates 94bhp of power.
Talking about diesel version, the report says the new car's 1.5-litre diesel engine would replace the existing 1.3 diesel. Both the variants are likely to come with a six-speed manual transmission replacing the existing five-speed manual transmission.
Among the fresh cosmetic upgrades that the new Ertiga is likely to boast of include a new grille with projector headlamps, redesigned front bumper, LED DRLs and high-mounted LED stop lamps, while the interior of the MPV is expected to flaunt include a dual tone interior combination and larger horizontal aircon vents, Carwale report added.
