Prime Minister wrote from his Twitter account: "Today, on Olympic Day, I appreciate all those who have represented India in various Olympics over the years. Our nation is proud of their contributions to sports and their efforts towards motivating other athletes."

Meanwhile, on International Olympic Day, Panipat Administration and Sports Department honored the families of two Olympic qualifier players from Panipat with best wishes for winning medals in the Olympics. A cycle rally was also organized on International Olympic Day in which schoolchildren took part.
Sports officer Raj Yadav told Zee Business: "We hope that both the players will bring laurels to the country by winning Olympic medals. The sports officer said that when the players come back after winning medals, they will also be given a warm welcome."
Neha Goyal, from Haryana's Sonepat, has also been included in the Indian women's hockey team announced for the Tokyo Olympics. Her family members believe that her daughter will definitely make Sonepat and the country's name in Tokyo Olympics.
Also, Pooja Vastrakar, a resident of Shahdol, is playing a Test cricket match against the England women's team in Bristol at present. Vastrakar has created history, She became the first cricketer from the Vindhya region to make a Test debut in the Indian women's cricket team.
After about 15 years, a woman from Madhya Pradesh is playing a Test match with the Indian women's cricket team, not only this, Pooja Vastrakar has become the tenth woman cricketer of the state, which is a matter of pride for the country, the Zee Business team reported.
Coach Ashutosh Srivastava told Zee Business that "Earlier we used to make her bat, but there was some incident that Pooja could not bat. Then she decided to go for the bowling option. It was her hard work, which is now paying off."
