PM Modi inaugurates hospital funded by India in Bhutan
The inauguration was a part of Modi's two-day state visit to the neighbouring country of Bhutan. Earlier, Modi was conferred with the highest civilian award of Bhutan on his first-ever state visit to the country and became the first foreigner to be awarded the honour, on Friday (March 22).
Prime Minister (Modi) is going to inaugurate this wonderful hospital. This hospital is a mother-and-child hospital…Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck Mother and Child Hospital, that has been fully funded by the government of India and this is going to go a long way in improving the lives of the Bhutanese but especially, the healthcare for our mothers and our children.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck Mother and Child Hospital, a mother and child hospital fully funded by the Indian government, in Thimphu, on Saturday (March 23).
The inauguration was a part of Modi's two-day state visit to the neighbouring country of Bhutan. Earlier, Modi was conferred with the highest civilian award of Bhutan on his first-ever state visit to the country and became the first foreigner to be awarded the honour, on Friday (March 22).
The 'Order of Druk Gyalpo' is a lifetime achievement award and takes precedence over all national prestigious awards accorded to achievers in Bhutan.
Modi also met his counterpart Tshering Tobgay and spoke on issues of mutual interest.
The two countries signed several documents to bolster bilateral ties. A country of fewer than 800,000 people, roughly the size of Switzerland, Bhutan has deep economic and trade relations with its southern neighbour India, its biggest donor and economic partner.
