States can play active role to achieve 'Viksit Bharat@2047’ goal: PM Modi

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the aspiration of a 'Viksit Bharat@2047'—a developed India by 2047—is a shared goal for every Indian. He highlighted that states have a crucial role in this vision, given their direct connection with the populace.

Speaking at the 9th Governing Council meeting of the NITI Aayog, PM Modi remarked, “This decade is marked by technological and geopolitical shifts, presenting significant opportunities. India must seize these chances and align our policies to attract international investments. This is essential for our progress towards becoming a developed nation.”

The NITI Aayog meeting, themed 'Viksit Bharat@2047', concentrated on India's path to development. It underscored the need for cooperative governance and enhanced collaboration between central and state governments to improve the quality of life for all citizens. The focus was on strengthening the implementation of government initiatives in both rural and urban areas.

The council reviewed the Approach Paper for the Vision Document on 'Viksit Bharat@2047' and discussed the pivotal role states will play in achieving this vision.

India is projected to become the world’s third-largest economy and aims to reach a $30 trillion economy by 2047. To realize this vision, a collaborative effort between the central and state governments, dubbed 'Team India', is essential. The 9th Governing Council Meeting aimed to outline a roadmap for this collaborative effort.

Additionally, the meeting addressed recommendations from the 3rd National Conference of Chief Secretaries, which took place from December 27-29, 2023. Under the theme 'Ease of Living', the conference proposed key improvements in drinking water, electricity, health, education, and land and property management.
