Budget 2022: 'People Friendly and Progressive budget': From PM Narendra Modi to NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant - Who said what
Union Budget 2022-23: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2022 on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Parliament. The budget will lay the foundation for economic growth through public investment. The government has projected growth at 8% to 8.5% compared with an estimated 9.2% for the current fiscal year and a 6.6% contraction the previous year, the Finance Minister said at her budget speech.

"I congratulate Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for this 'People Friendly and Progressive budget," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, as per ANI. "For the first time in the country, 'Parvat Mala' scheme is being kickstarted for regions like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, J&K, northeast. It'll facilitate modern system of transportation & connectivity in hills. This will provide strength to border villages," he added. The PM also said, "An announcement of over Rs 2.25 lakh crores MSP will be directly transferred (to farmers); budget will double farmers' income. "It is a very progressive and forward-looking Budget. It prepares India for the next stage of its sustained growth. It is a continuation of the last year's Budget. The real highlight of the Budget is its huge expansion on the capital expenditure," NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said as per an ANI tweet. He added, "This Budget looks at sunrise areas of growth.
