Jasprit Bumrah injured, ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022; BCCI to name replacement
Jasprit Bumrah injured: In what comes as a body blow to Team India's chances at ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup with a stress fracture. BCCI will be naming his replacement for the T20 World Cup soon.
PTI quoted a BCCI official who added that the stress fracture could sideline Bumrah for months, dealing a massive blow to the team's chances in the ICC event.
The senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity that Bumrah was 'not going to play the World T20 for sure.'
The source called Bumrah's injury a 'serious back condition', adding that it was a stress fracture which could him out of action for a 'period of six months'.
Bumrah, who played two T20s against Australia, didn't travel with the team to Thiruvananthapuram for the series opener against South Africa.
Jasprit Bumrah had been left out of India vs South Africa match on Wednesday after he complained of back pain during India's practice session. BCCI tweeted that the BCCI Medical Team assessed him and he was the ruled out of the first T20 match.

Bumrah is the second senior star player to be ruled out after Ravindra Jadeja, who is recovering from a knee surgery.
At the T20 World Cup in Australia, India will begin their campaign against arch-rival Pakistan on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne.
