Chetan Sharma Sting Operation: BCCI Chief Selector makes shocking revelations regarding players' fitness, 'injection scam' and root cause behind Kohli vs Ganguly rift
Chetan Sharma Sting Operation: BCCI chief selector blew the lid over another scandal when he talked about how unfit Team India players take injections to pass their fitness test before international matches.
Chetan Sharma Sting Operation: BCCI Chief Selector Chetan Sharma has stirred the proverbial hornet's nest in a major sting operation conducted by Zee News. The former cricketer has made shocking revelations about how players fake fitness tests by taking injections that cannot be detected in dope tests, about what was the cause behind the rift between former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and the then Team India skipper.
Chetan Sharma Sting Operation: Virat Kohli vs Sourav Ganguly - The Inside Story
Talking about the rift between former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Team India mainstay Virat Kohli, the chief selector revealed in the Zee News sting operation that there was a major clash of egos between the two.
Talking about the Kohli-Ganguly tiff, the BCCI chief selector said, “When a cricketer becomes big, he feels that he can do anything and conquer anyone. So, he (Kohli) went after the President (Ganguly). Sourav Ganguly never said a word about the issue to me, but Kohli wanted to go after him.
“This is a dispute of ego. He said he is bigger, and Kohli said he is bigger,” he added.
Sharma claimed that Ganguly had asked Kohli not to quit as T20 captain during a videocall, but the latter probably didn't hear him properly. Later on, while talking to media about captaincy during a press conference before South Africa series, 'Kohli tried to defame Ganguly' as he probably thought that the former BCCI president was involved in his sacking as ODI captain.
Chetan Sharma Sting Operation: Injection scandal
BCCI chief selector blew the lid over another scandal when he talked about how unfit Team India players take injections to pass their fitness test before international matches.
He claimed that players take injections to play when they aren't even 80% fit, adding that one or two players in the team take injections in private to mask injuries and appear to be fully fit to play.
He revealed that the injections being talked about here aren't painkillers, because those would show up in the doping test.
Chetan Sharma Sting Operation: Drags Bumrah's Name
He opened yet another Pandora's Box by claiming that ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was not fully fit before the T20 World Cup 2022. He had suffered a major injury, but not fully rehabilitated from NCA.
Although unfit, Bumrah traveled to Australia along with the squad.
Chetan Sharma Sting Operation: Players Try To Remain In good Books
Blowing his own trumpet, the BCCI Chief Selector said that players like Team India skipper Rohit Sharma, and players like Hardik Pandya and others, call him regularly and visit his residence in order to get in his good books.
He even claimed that players share dressing room gossip with him in order to stay pally with him and boost their chances of getting selected or staying in the team.
