Meghalaya assembly election date, results 2023 full poll schedule: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on January 18 (Wednesday) announced the schedule for the Assembly polls in Meghalaya. The term of the Meghalaya assembly ends on March 15.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced that the polls in the northeastern state for the 60-member assembly will be held in a single phase on February 27.

The results will be declared on March 2.

• Last date of making notifications: February 7
• Date of scrutiny of notifications: February 8
• Last date for withdrawal of candidatures: February 10
• Date of Poll: February 27
• Date of counting: March 2
• Date before election shall be completed: March 4

Currently, the National People's Party (NPP) runs the government in Meghalaya. It is the only party from the North-East to have national party recognition.

Apart from Meghalaya, assembly polls will also be held in Nagaland and Tripura. These three northeastern states are the first to have assembly polls this year.

The term of these two assemblies (Nagaland and Tripura) will also end in March but on different dates. While the term of the Nagaland assembly ends on March 12, the terms of the Tripura assemblies end on March 22.

The three state assemblies have a strength of 60 members each.
